Language Assistance

Nashua Transit System is committed to improving access to programs for those with limited English proficiency. Spanish translations of essential NTS documents are located on the same webpages as English versions.

All NTS documentation including ride guides, applications, or infographics are available in alternative languages and formats upon request. To request documentation in a different language or format, please call (603) 880-0100 or email us at NTSfeedback@nashuanh.gov.

Nashua Transit System also uses the following methods below to communicate to those with limited English proficiency:

Translation Services

Phone Translation

The City of Nashua contracts with Language Line Services Inc. (707-538-8900) to provide confidential telephone interpretation service in 173 languages.

Website Translation

The Nashua Transit System website has a translation tool located in the bottom right corner of the page. Click "Enable Google Translate" and select a language to view the entire website in your selected language.

On the Bus

All NTS vehicles are equipped with tablets containing the Google Translate app. This app can translate up to 100 languages, and gives riders with language barriers the ability to communicate with bus drivers on the spot without using an interpreter. 

Other Language Assistance

NTS has open lines of communication with organizations that work with LEP populations. These organizations are aware how to contact NTS to obtain language assistance. NTS also analyzes the census data and community profiles to determine whether language assistance might be needed in certain settings, such as having public meeting notices translated where the meeting might occur. NTS also honors any request for translations at our public meetings with advanced notice.
