We Are Hiring New Firefighters!
Nashua Fire Rescue is hiring and we invite you to participate in the 2022-2023 hiring process for the position of Firefighter/EMT. Please read this letter carefully, as it contains key dates and important instructions that must be followed. In addition to the requirements of RSA 701.01, the City of Nashua Board of Fire Commissioners has set the following minimum criteria for employment:
• CPAT Certification (Valid for 26 months from date of CPAT test)
• New Hampshire or Pro Board Firefighter II certification*

• Current National Registry EMT-B certification*
• Current CPR certification*
• No more than three (3) points in three (3) years on your Driver’s License Record for moving violations
• No DWI convictions within seven (7) years on your Driver’s License Record
• No convictions involving the transportation of alcohol or drugs within seven (7) years on your Driver’s License Record
• 18 Years of age
• Able to work in the United States of America
*Requirements noted with an asterisk are required to start employment but are not required to apply. Nashua Fire Rescue realizes that applicants may be in the process of obtaining these requirements and invite all those interested to apply.
The Nashua Fire Rescue hiring process includes a supplemental physical agility test, an initial department interview, and Chief’s interview.
Once the hiring process is complete, selected candidates will be scheduled for medical exams compliant with NFPA 1582, psychological evaluation, a detailed criminal background check, credit check, and motor vehicle check pending Nashua Fire Rescue’s hiring needs.

Applications will be accepted from August 2, 2022 until October 15, 2022
Supplemental Physical Testing
Candidates will be tested on the following:
-100’ Aerial ladder climb in 4 minutes 20 seconds or less
-1.5 mile run in 12:00 minutes or less
-Completion of an obstacle course while using a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA)/claustrophobia test
Candidates must provide weather appropriate clothing. Hard soled work boots are required for the aerial climb. Athletic/running shoes are strongly recommended for the 1.5 mile run. All other equipment will be provided for the SCBA/claustrophobia test.
The Supplemental Physical Testing will occur at The Hampshire Dome in Milford, NH on November 1, 2022. Applicants will be contacted with a specific testing time after their application has been received.
Once an applicant passes the supplemental physical testing they will be given the date, time, and location of their initial department interview. This initial interview will be within a week or two of the supplemental physical testing. A Chief’s interview will be scheduled for those candidates that move on in the process after the initial interview.
Candidates that are successful in this hiring process can expect to start with Nashua Fire Rescue in April 2023.
