Acceptable Materials

Please rinse all containers and flatten all cardboard to 30 inches square before recycling. All recyclables can go in the same recycling cart.

  • Smooth cardboard and corrugated cardboard
  • Newspapers, magazines and catalogs
  • White and colored paper
  • Mail and envelopes
  • Paper Bags
  • Soft cover books, telephone books
  • Plastic bottles, containers, jars and jugs #1 through #7 (yogurt cups, salad containers, etc.)
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Plastic milk jugs
  • Clean aluminum foil wrap and trays
  • Metal cans - tin and aluminum
  • Staples, tape, glue and any paper that can tear are okay

Unacceptable Materials

Recycling carts containing unacceptable materials will not be picked up or will be left curbside. Please place the following in the regular trash:

  • Food-contaminated containers (such as pizza boxes with oil or cheese residue)
  • Soft paper:
    • Napkins
    • Paper towels
    • Tissues
  • Waxed or plastic-coated paper:
    • Candy wrappers
    • Frozen food boxes
    • Juice boxes
    • Oatmeal and hot cocoa packets
    • Take-out containers
  • Soiled paper
  • Shredded paper
  • Styrofoam
  • Plastic bags
  • Other types of glass:
    • Ceramics
    • Glassware
    • Incandescent light bulbs
    • Mirrors
